JOB SUMMARY:
Promotes library services to the community, both in the library and throughout the county by providing materials and services to traditionally underserved populations. Responsible for planning, budgeting, material selection, creating and reviewing policy and program implementation of outreach services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for planning, budgeting, material selections, creating and reviewing policy and program implementation of outreach services. Represents the library system at schools, community groups; provides off-site programs appropriate to needs of older adults.
Plans and supports collaborative events with other community agencies servicing underserved populations such as older adults, new immigrants and at-risk youths. Distributes large print books, magazines and audio-visual materials to homebound citizens and senior facilities. Searches on-line informational data bases to answer inquiries and develop teaching models. Selects appropriate materials for populations served using surveys, recommendations and book reviews. Provides guidance and support to patrons, paraprofessionals and clerical staff in the use of bibliographic and computer assisted services. Assembles and arranges displays and bibliographies of books and other library materials. Collects and reports statistics including monthly programming and other information of interest to library outreach. Prepares yearly budget recommendations for Outreach Services. Track and monitors budget expenditures. Obtains supplemental program funding through grant writing and other fundraising efforts. Responsible for maintaining the online community information database. Evaluate library policies that involve outreach services, make recommendations for changes and record the outcome of administrative decisions. Interacts with library patrons to assist them in selecting materials and meeting informational needs. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.


REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree and additional certification for coursework in Social Services preferred. Three years related job experience. Good computer skills; good verbal and written communication skills and organization skills; Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials. Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: Grade 9, $1,163.00 $1,368.00 biweekly, based upon qualifications.
