Working under the direct supervision of the Tobacco Prevention Specialist, the primary mission of the Tobacco Prevention Facilitator is to implement community-based strategies and initiate collaboratives to decrease the use of tobacco throughout Fort Bend County. Activities include Outreach, Education, Professional Consultations within the Healthcare industry and Media Awareness Campaigns. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) and may on occasion require evening or weekend hours.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
This position requires a motivated, professional with strong marketing orientation, and an ability to work well with other professionals. The position demands organizational skills and philosophical consistency with the programs' goals.
• General knowledge about the dangers associated with tobacco use. • Ability to work with a variety of professional including physicians. • Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and sensitivity in working with diverse cultures, especially the Hispanic and African American cultures. • Strong communication and organizational skills. • Working knowledge of Fort Bend County community resources. • Ability to adapt frequently and rapidly to agency needs. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills. • Ability to form constructive, mutually beneficial working relationships with other service providers and interested parties in the community.
Education/Training:
• Bachelors Degree Preferred. • Marketing experience a plus.
