2010 Summer and Fall Legislative Internship Opportunity (NON-PAID
POSITION)
For District Office of State Representative Dora Olivo
General Description:
Seeking non-paid fall interns for the District office of State Representative Dora Olivo.
This opportunity will provide interns with in-depth exposure to the Texas legislative
system, issues, and government, as well as the chance to work closely alongside the
Representative and the office staff. Also, interns will have the opportunity to learn
legislative processes and programs, including TLIS and CMS. This internship will
provide excellent training for any aspiring future capitol legislative employees.
Interns will be responsible for general office administrative tasks, research on numerous
issues, attending a wide array of events on behalf of the Representative, and some
constituent case work. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Interns are
required to commit at least 12 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Strong computer and organizational skills are a must. A strong work ethic and ability to
work as a team member are essential. Additionally, students are not required but are
strongly encouraged to apply for their respective university's internship for credit
