Dear UHV Faculty, Staff and Students,
Come support the Bright Ideas Relay for Life team, made up of UHV staff and students, by eating at area Whataburger restaurants Tuesday night. Twenty percent of sales from 5 to 8 p.m. at Whataburger locations in Victoria, Cuero and Edna will go to the team as a fundraising project for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Victoria County.
Relay for Life is organized by American Cancer Society chapters across the nation and involves more than 3.5 million people. Volunteers form teams, raise money throughout the year to fight cancer and then take turns walking or running for up to 24 hours at Relay for Life fundraising events. This year’s Victoria County Relay for Life will be from 6 p.m. April 30 until 6 a.m. May 1 at Coleto Creek.
In 2009, the Bright Ideas Relay for Life team was the first team in the county to raise more than $10,000 for the American Cancer Society. The team raised $10,860.49 total.
Team members will on hand at the following Whataburger locations to talk to diners about Relay for Life and how they can get involved:
Victoria: 509 E. Rio Grande 4302 N. Navarro 8908 N. Navarro (by mall) 3603 Houston Highway
Cuero: 905 Esplanade N.
Edna: 106 Houston Highway E.
